8800 Aluminum & Wood Edge Bander: Understanding the Processing LineIssuing time:2026-10-14 11:32 LEADWOOD / MACHINE TECHNOLOGY A practical guide to pre-milling, profile bonding, trimming and adhesive selection for straight and bevel panel edges.
01 / One production requirement, several edge stylesFurniture manufacturers may need straight edges, bevel edges and combined bevel-and-straight profiles within one product range. The LEADWOOD 8800 is a multifunction edge banding machine for suitable wood-based and aluminum panels. The important selection question is how its processing units match your exact panel structure and edge design. Material compatibility and tooling should be confirmed with samples. 02 / Pre-milling prepares the bonding surfaceThe documented function list includes straight and bevel pre-milling. This stage prepares the edge geometry before adhesive application. Consistent incoming dimensions and suitable cutting tools are essential: pre-milling cannot compensate for every defect in a panel or an incorrect cutting plan. When comparing machines, ask to see the condition of the edge before and after milling, especially with your chosen surface finish and panel core. 03 / Adhesive and profile-following bondingThe 8800 documentation lists a double glue-pot arrangement and EVA/PUR adhesive choices. Confirm the exact installed pots, adhesive specification and changeover procedure in the quotation. The profiling bonding stage presses the band onto the prepared shape. Pressure settings, adhesive application and feed rate must work together; evaluate the bond across the whole profile rather than judging only the exterior appearance. 04 / From end cutting to final polishingThe documented sequence continues through end cutting, trimming, scraping, glue removal and polishing. End cutting addresses the projecting tape at the panel ends. Trimming and scraping refine the band around the panel surfaces, while the final cleaning and polishing stages help present a consistent finished edge. Each stage needs adjustment to the selected tape and panel. A complete demonstration should include front and rear ends as well as the long edge. 05 / Reference capacity and factory planningThe published specification lists 16–45 mm panel thickness, 0.6–2 mm edge band thickness and 18–80 mm band width. Minimum panel length is 300 mm and minimum width is 150 mm. Reference conveyor speed is 9 m/min, total power is 20 kW and machine weight is 2,500 kg. The listed machine size is 7.29 × 0.6 × 1.7 m. These figures describe the reference configuration; request a layout drawing with service access and feeding clearances. 06 / Prepare a meaningful comparisonSend samples of both the panel and edge band, the required bevel angle and profile dimensions, plus your adhesive preference. For aluminum panels, identify the complete panel construction instead of specifying only the surface material. Compare finished sample quality, tool changes, cleaning access and operator adjustments alongside nominal speed. Ask for a written function list so the machine delivered matches the production process demonstrated. Discuss your production requirements.Send your material, workpiece drawings, required configuration and destination country to the LEADWOOD team. Reference specifications are subject to the agreed machine configuration. |
