50T Hydraulic Cold Press: Platen Size, Stack Height and Bonding ConsistencyIssuing time:2026-10-14 11:35 LEADWOOD / MACHINE TECHNOLOGY How to evaluate a hydraulic cold press for furniture panels, including load distribution, adhesive timing and working capacity.
01 / What a cold press doesA hydraulic cold press holds a prepared assembly under pressure while a suitable adhesive develops its bond. It is used in furniture-panel and related laminating workflows where the material and adhesive are appropriate for cold pressing. The LEADWOOD 50T series is offered in 2.5 m and 3 m arrangements. Selection starts with the actual assembly size, stack arrangement and adhesive process. 02 / Total force is not the same as pressure at every pointThe 50T rating describes the nominal pressing force of the machine. The pressure experienced by a particular assembly depends on the loaded area and how that force is distributed. A smaller workpiece and a full-size panel do not automatically experience the same surface pressure. Use the adhesive and material supplier’s process requirements, and confirm a suitable pressing arrangement with the equipment supplier. 03 / Platen size, opening and stack heightFor the documented 2.5 m version, the platen is 2,500 × 1,250 mm. Listed maximum stack-height options are 900, 1,200 and 1,400 mm, depending on the selected model. Distinguish the opening available for loading from the usable stack capacity. Include any approved support or pressure-distribution boards in your layout, and confirm the exact platen and opening dimensions for the chosen version. 04 / Bonding quality begins before pressingUniform adhesive application, compatible surfaces and correct assembly timing all affect the finished panel. Arrange the load so pressure can be applied as intended by the machine and process instructions. Different thicknesses or poorly supported assemblies can create inconsistent contact. Do not use a longer pressing time as a substitute for correcting unsuitable adhesive conditions or an uneven load. 05 / Reference installation figuresThe series documentation lists 4 kW installed power and a nominal 50T pressing force. The 2.5 m versions have a listed footprint of 2,910 × 1,250 mm and reference weights from 1,800 to 2,200 kg across the height options. The 3 m series has a larger listed footprint of 3,410 × 1,250 mm. Confirm the final model dimensions, electrical requirements and floor-loading needs before delivery. 06 / Run a production-relevant trialProvide the substrate, facing or assembly materials, adhesive type, panel dimensions and intended stack arrangement. Ask for a trial using the required pressing schedule and inspect the bond after the specified conditioning period. Review loading access, unloading, hydraulic-system maintenance and operator training. Keep the pressing area clear and follow the approved operating procedure; selection advice does not replace the machine’s operating manual.
